When he set up JD Accountancy in 2022, the decision was straightforward. Keep the client list manageable, handle every account personally, and be available at the times small business owners can actually talk — before the working day, in the evening, on a Saturday. Fixed fees agreed in writing before any work starts. No hourly billing surprises, no upsell calls.

JD Accountancy now works with contractors, CIS subcontractors, sole traders, landlords, and small limited companies across Wrexham, North Wales, Chester, and the rest of the UK via cloud accounting and direct communication. Around 90% of clients stay year on year — which is the clearest measure of whether the model is working. The practice is still growing, and Joey still answers the phone.
